The dream I had last night that didn’t involve serial killing.

I’m in midtown and have just gotten off the phone with a friend of mine that I’ll head over to hang out. I walk over to the next avenue to try to flag down a cab; After standing on the corner for a while none come so I decide to start walking towards the subway. On my way I walk into a crowd of people who are being harassed by a homeless person. While commenting on her odd behavior we walk into a building as a shortcut to the station. The building manager yells at us that they are closing and begins to pull down a metal gate (which would trap us inside.) We duck under the gate and run to a door labeled “exit.”

Going through this door takes us into a room with doors for men’s and women’s bathrooms, and an additional door that we presume is the exit. This takes us to an identical room. After going through rooms of this sort about five or six times, I begin to panic and wonder if we turn back. We go through one last door, which is a small room with some sort of box built into the wall. The box requests we make a taco using materials inside. We do so. It then requests we microwave it a hamburger. We do so. We watch the items vanish, and the box turns into a small window.

We are now left to figure out how to get out of the room. There is a laptop in the room; I determine the IP address of the laptop and subsequently the location of the room (somewhere in suburban New Jersey.) The other people trapped in the room are convinced our escape depends on my work on the laptop and interactions with the window. I think that the solution must be fairly simple and begin looking around the room for a way out.

We realize that the door that led us to the room is still open and head through it. We end up in a bathroom with a series of mirrors; we realize that passing through these mirrors will get us out, but passing through the wrong mirror will take us back towards the room we were “trapped” in. We grab a bunch of markers to label the mirrors and start through the maze.
